Many snorers have a condition
known as obstructive sleep apnea where
breathing can be totally and repeatedly
stopped for ten seconds or longer during
sleep. People with apnea can spend more
than half of their sleep time not getting
enough oxygen. Their hearts work much
harder and they wake up feeling less
than refreshed and sleepy. They can fall
asleep during the day, sometimes even
behind the wheel.
We are pleased to offer our patients, SomnoMed MAS™, a custom-fi tted oral appliance that enables normal mouth opening and closing, and is reported to have drastically improved the sleep quality of approximately 91% of patients.
How do you know if this will work for you? You will be given a thorough examination, possibly including x-rays, to verify that this device is appropriate for your dental and oral health. Next, dental impressions will be taken and sent to a lab where the appliance is custom-made. You will then be shown how to use it, remove it, and care for it.
The SomnoMed MAS is constructed of both upper and lower dental plates; and, is also adjustable, so even patients with a bridge, dentures, or partial dentures can be possible candidates.
